MIBC introduction
 
Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) is an organic compound, a liquid derivative of acetone, with a pungent alcoholic taste. It has limited solubility in water, but it is miscible with most organic solvents. The main use of MIBC is as a foaming agent in mineral flotation and lubricant additive production.
 
Foaming, also called froth flotation, is a process of selectively separating hydrophobic valuable minerals from hydrophilic waste gangue. Froth flotation is the simplest method. With the help of special chemicals, water and bubbles, minerals can be "skimmed" from the surface of "bubbly" "slurry".
 
MIBC is used as a foaming agent in ore mining in the flotation process, which includes copper and molybdenum sulfide and coal. Compared with other bubblers, Celanese MIBC products have fast kinetics and excellent selectivity, and can form dry but fragile foams, thereby increasing the output and efficiency of mineral and metal recovery. This technology has led to an industry-leading method to separate valuable minerals from extracted ore.
 
MIBC can also be used in the production of lubricant additives (ZDDP), as well as in the production of anti-wear and corrosion inhibitors (for example in the production of brake fluids) and the precursors of certain plasticizers.

Application:
